LEROS BIKE ISLAND
The island of the goddess Artemis
A beautiful island that we did not expect to impress us so much in the
cycling sector.
6 dream days with a final record of 300 km and 4000 m altitude.
Each day and a separate route
With road bikes and with MTB
And with a different cycling company from the team of the island's
cycling club
At first you may think that it is a small island but in the end it is
so beautifully unpredictable for a cyclist
You can go around every corner of the island from Alinda to Kamara and
the airport in Partheni and up to Lakki and Xirokampos.
They gather over 50 kilometers almost without going through the same places.
Let's not forget the fantastic Pateli that the view from the sea with
the windmills and the castle and the picturesque port with the fish
taverns gives you an impressive island image.
As a reference to MTB we must mention the very good work that has been
done on various paths suitable even for DOWNHILL
Fantastic routes in forests and next to beaches with clear blue waters
The uphills of the island are demanding but at the top you enjoy the
view especially in the area of the quarry in front of the antennas
overlooking Kalymnos
which is a breath away from Leros (from afar the 3 islands located
between Leros and Kalymnos look as if it is a bridge that connects the
2 islands., but also Turkey which is so close to the island
An island with a mayor, Mr. Kollias, and his staff, whom we have met,
who have understood the meaning of alternative forms of tourism and
are trying to make the island BIKE FRIENDLY. A commendable effort that
we hope will be successful.
Discussions about bike races on the island were interesting with the
members of the club and we hope to see races of the Greek federation
soon and in Leros after Rhodes, Kos, Symi, Kalymnos and Nisyros that
will take place this year.
Unforgettable trip
We thank Mr. Boulafenti, Kontogiorgaki Fanouri (cycling athlete)
Sofouli, Sifounio. Fasoli Marko (cycling athlete), Psychogio,
Deligiorgi and the other guys of the club who have helped in this very
good image for cycling on the island
It is worth the island. Also coronavirus free(Nobody affected )
,Visit it either in winter or summer. The hospitality of the people is
fantastic
And don't forget to get a lottery ticket from ELIN OIL's gas station
in Lakki for the bicycle that the local club draws to support the club
and the island's cycling.
You can visit Leros even from Kos with a boat in about one hour and
with free transportation of your bike
